WHAT TO WEAR TO A FESTIVAL

Festivals are the absolute pinnacle of our summer months, in recent years they have become extremely popular and now there are more and more emerging than you can shake a stick at. Sonar in Barcelona? Hideout in Croatia? Tomorrowland in Belgium? Whatever your music tastes there is a festival to suit and also the opportunity to enjoy it in a beautiful European country.
While there are hundreds of different festivals to choose from, one thing always remains the same. True festival style! This calls for flower crowns, crops, denim shorts, chunky sandals and all the accessories you can get your hands on. But don’t forget your layers! (Especially if your festival is UK based) go for items that can be taken off easily should the sun pay you a visit. We love the ElectricBlue Dark Floral Boxy Crop Top and matching Electric Blue Dark Floral TailoredHigh Waist Skorts for a fun, flirty look and the Cobalt Blue & Cream PalmTree Print Playsuit for the ultimate summery staple. Throw on some JEEPERS PEEPERS River Blue Metallic Round Sunglasses and you are festival ready!

'B' IS FOR BODY CONSCIOUS

The figure hugging bodycon dress has been the go-to style for a night out for quite some time now; it’s sexy, daring and completely shows off the female shape. What’s not to love? But did you know that we have the early 90’s to thank for this popular trend? A lot of the bodycon styles we see in our favourite high street stores today are very similar to those worn by celebrities on the red carpet during that decade. French fashion house Herve Leger was credited with popularising the bodycon trend with the invention of the Bandage Dress (you all know what this is girls!) it was created with the intention of moulding to the wearer’s figure. In today’s fashion, wearing a bodycon dress is a bold statement of body confidence. Contrary to what you might think a lot of different shapes and sizes can pull this style off.

Those of you who have a slim athletic figure and no exaggerated curves will benefit from choosing a bodycon dress that has volume to the shoulders. Try dresses that have a slightly padded or embellished detail on the shoulders. A high neckline will give the illusion of a larger chest, opt for a shorter style to show off your amazing long.

Bodycon styles can be extremely flattering for you pear shaped ladies. Pear shape means your hip measurement is generally larger than both your waist and chest measurements, meaning you will most likely have a one very juicy butt! (Kimmy K anyone?!) Bodycon styles are ideal for pears as they don’t add any unnecessary bulk to your bum! If you’re not confident enough to go for a full bodycon dress, a bodycon skirt can be teamed with a loose blouse to balance out your figure and still make you look seriously sexy.

The Hourglass; the body shape every woman wishes for! If you are lucky enough to be the proud owner of an hourglass shape this means that your bust and hip measurements are almost exactly the same whilst your waist is considerably smaller. Bodycon dresses are the most flattering on this shape as they will highlight all of your gorgeous curves and make you look undeniably feminine. They won’t add any extra bulk to your figure and will show off that tiny waist!

| CAUGHT ON CAMERA: BURKATRON |

Caroline of Burkatron gave a whole new meaning to the phrase 'casual chic,' when she rocked up in our White Collarless Blazer. Teaming the timeless jacket with a slouchy tee, boyfriend ripped knee jeans and New Balance trainers, Caroline stayed cool and comfy without loosing any fashion points! Opting for a funky oversized spotted clutch, really set this outfit apart from other day-to-day wears. Describing the jacket as a 'knock out' piece, I'm sure Caroline will agree this blazer will see you right through from summer until winter, year after year!

WHAT TO WEAR TO A BBQ

Summer has officially hit the UK! We’ve been having such gorgeous weather lately and here at Lavish Alice we’ve been wondering how you lovely lot have been making the most of it. More importantly, have you been invited to any BBQ’s yet? We hope so! Who doesn’t love basking in the hot UK sunshine with a fruit cider in one hand and a delicious burger in the other, in the company of friends and good music?
When we think of BBQ’s the first thing that springs to mind of course is the Fourth of July Weekend, a national holiday where millions of Americans will gather around outdoor pits to cook meaty, patriotic dishes with their close friends and loved ones.
Here in the UK it has become something of a Bank Holiday tradition to hold a BBQ in our back garden, the first hint of sun and we’re optimistically dragging out the barbeque grill from our garden shed and sending the other half off to the butchers. But amidst frantically scrubbing down the grill, making sure there is enough food and drink for everyone and keeping our fingers crossed for no rain, we girls have another VERY IMPORTANT thing to consider, what on earth do we wear??

It is the perfect opportunity to get out that summer outfit that has been hiding in the wardrobe waiting for the sun to appear, and we have some great options here at Lavish Alice that will provide both style and comfort (because we know we have eyes bigger than our belly at first smell of all that scrumptious food!).
The co-ord is big news this summer season, matching sets are super cute, massively on-trend and luckily for you we have the perfect combination for your summer BBQ. The Cream and Coral Contrast Boucle Top with co-ordinating Cream and Coral Contrast Boucle Shorts set is a sleek, chic and comfortable choice for those of you running around attending to your guests but still wanting to stay ahead of trends at the same time. Team with a pair of our oversized sunglasses and the White Strapped Chunky Heel Sandals and you’re good to go!
For those of you who have been invited to a BBQ and don’t have the task of sweating over a smoking grill (lucky you!) we have something a little more smart, the Powder Blue Cropped Mini Dress incorporates both the colour and dress shape of the season. Sugary sweet pastels are taking over this summer and we couldn’t be happier about it!
Now go and enjoy getting together with all of your favourite people in true summer style (and don’t forget to save us a hotdog!)
